A couple of years ago we recommended a number of commercial page builders including Divi, Elementor, Beaver Builder, and Design Palette Pro.
How about WP Bakery?
We recently added WP Bakery to a couple of websites and have been impressed with the results.
WP Bakery is easy to use and will work with almost any WordPress theme. It comes with a number of content elements which you drag and drop on the page to create a custom layout. Elements include section containers, columns, text blocks, icons, buttons, images, galleries, carousels, flip boxes, and more. It also includes a number of animation options for buttons, boxes, images, almost anything can be animated.
Luckily, you can also configure WP Bakery with preset elements including fonts and colors to define your brand as well as select which element are available to the end user. WP Bakery is a commercial plugin that is available with an unlimited $49 license fee. Check it out here.
What about the WP Block Editor?
If a page builder sounds too complicated for your website, you can also adjust the page layout using the WordPress Block Editor. The block editor is now built into WP core. It introduces an upgraded approach to editing pages which allows the user more control over the layout by moving the different page elements into “blocks” Blocks can consist of text, images, embeds, forms, widgets, and more. You can then move blocks up and down as well as edit them individually to easily create media-rich content. The block editor is easy to use and may just satisfy your need to adjust the page content without moving to a page builder.
Should you use a page builder?
Other things to consider when deciding on a page builder is speed and workflow. Page builders can easily slow down your website by adding support for elements your website may not need. It can also impact your workflow by providing a new array of colors, fonts and images that may not match your brand. However, there are multiple ways to to reduce the impact thorough pre-configuration of the builder tools.
