Return to Display Queries on Your Site
The SmartSimian Query widget is an easy way to add a query to any widget area on your site.
- Go to Appearance > Widgets.
- From the list of available widgets, drag “SmartSimian Queries” to the widget area of your choice.
- Optionally, add a title to the widget, which will appear above the query.
- Select a query from the dropdown menu.
- Click “Save.”
The query will now appear in the widget area.
If the query you selected includes a search form, a new option will appear: a dropdown menu labeled “Display”, with the options “Normal”, “Form Only”, and “Results Only”.
“Normal” will have no effect; “Form Only” will force the query to only display the search form; and “Results Only” will force the query to only display the results, excluding the search form.
If “Form Only” is selected, one more option will appear: “Results Page”. This is a text box in which you can enter a URL. This tells the query where to go once the form is submitted. Ideally, the URL you point it to will also have the query displayed on it, displaying the query results.
These “Display” and “Results Page” options are analogous to the shortcode attributes described here.
