This is my seventh post for the 21-Day Blogging Challenge. Here’s what I’ve learned so far.
Invite Guests
I managed to get 3 guest posts for my first week! That meant I only had to write 4 of my first 7 posts, which saved me a lot of time during an otherwise very busy week. Here are a few tips for guest posts:
- Don’t be afraid to ask people in your network to write a guest post for you.
- Make sure the post will relate to your niche, so your readers/followers will find it just as valuable as your posts.
- You and your guest should both get something out of the post. Share your guest’s blog, social media, and website in their post, so they can get some more followers. Ask your guest to invite their followers to read the post on your blog.
Consistency is Key
For now, I’m setting aside about 30 minutes, Monday through Friday, to work on blog posts. Some days that is enough time to write a few posts. Other days it gives me enough time to write only one post. The key is to book that time, and stick with it as much as possible.
You Don’t Need to Write a Book
A few paragraphs is fine! One of my posts was an unplanned post about my broken RV mirror (for my camping blog). It was relevant to the blog, but only a couple of paragraphs and pictures, and it still counts.
Write in Advance
When I finish writing my post for a day, I will also try to at least start on writing a second blog post. That way I can stay a little ahead of the game, and don’t have to play catch-up.
Posting Late is Okay
I went out of town for a few days, and didn’t have access to a computer to post anything. While the challenge is done with a group, everyone is accountable to themselves. Nobody gave me any grief for missing a couple of days, and I caught up after I gained access to the computer.
If you’re able to write a few posts in advance, you’ll be able to skip days during the challenge. But if you aren’t already ahead, and end up having to write two posts in a single day, that’s totally fine.
Skipping a Day is Also Okay
The goal is to get 21 posts in 21 days, but skipping a day is totally okay! These deadlines are self-imposed, and they’re good because they will help you get more consistent in your writing. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, everyone will understand.
If you do feel like 21 posts in 21 days is too much, write some posts now, and then start a 14-day challenge on June 1, 2020. Join the Facebook group to learn more.
