Why the Orangutan?
Our founder, Chrissy Rey, was a zoologist. While working towards her undergraduate degree, she spent a summer working with great apes. She loved getting to know to all of the apes that summer, but was especially fond of the orangutans, and came to recognize each of them as intelligent, resourceful, and often very silly individuals. After college, she planned to spend a couple of years working in research, before going to graduate school to study primatology. But then life happened, and her career path changed rather dramatically, towards what was then a relatively new field: web development. Chrissy never forgot that summer with the great apes, and chose to honor that experience by naming her company after her beloved orangutans, the Pongos.
